Ian Thomson

Born: 31st October 1973

 Ian has always achieved at a high level, always wanting to be the best in his field. Ian grew up playing cricket at representative level. At the age of 21 he moved into a windsurfing career that took him to Hawaii and Fiji and included test riding for two of the largest windsurfing brands on the market. Having bought his own yacht to sail to Fiji he then moved back to Brisbane where he got into yacht racing and ultimately found his true passion.

Since then he has raced Australia's premier races with the highlight being a division win in the 2008 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race aboard Lloyd's Business Brokers Too Impetuous.

His passion for boats took him to become a commercial skipper. He now works with the leading dive charter operator in the Whitsundays where he skippers the 52ft sailing cat Wings II.

2010 will see Ian embark on a campaign of sailing in local and major regattas throughout Australia to keep the No Plastic Bag Campaign alive.
